Assist. Prof. Plamena Stoyanova conducted a field study in the town of Yambol at the end of July 2020. Her research was focused on families with children who emigrated abroad.
The interviews were conducted among several adult couples whose immigrant children live in UK, Canada and the United States. Most of these children have families in the countries of emigration but maintain in active relationship with their parents as well as with their siblings in Bulgaria. The social, cultural and economic consequences that emigration of the children has on the remaining parents and relatives in Bulgaria were monitored.
